The achievement came during the second T20I as Tigers won the game by 8 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, just a day after a tragic fighter jet crash at Milestone School & College in Dhaka claimed several lives.

After being put in to bat, Bangladesh lost opener Mohammad Naim early, managing just 3 runs off 7 balls before being caught by Mohammad Haris off Faheem Ashraf. Parvez Hossain Emon tried to counterattack with a brisk 13 off 14 but fell in the sixth over, triggering a top-order collapse.

Skipper Litton Das looked promising with an 8-ball 8, but his dismissal in the fourth over left Bangladesh reeling at 25 for 2.

A mix-up led to the run-out of Towhid Hridoy for a duck, and within the first six overs, the Tigers found themselves four down for just 28.

The recovery came through Jaker Ali as he received brief support from Mahedi Hasan (33 off 25), but the rest of the middle and lower order failed to contribute significantly.

Late-order hitting from Rishad Hossain (8 off 4) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (7 off 4) helped push the score past 130, but wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. Bangladesh lost their last five wickets for just 52 runs.

Jaker, the lone bright spot in Bangladesh’s innings, showcased maturity under pressure with a well-crafted 55 off 48 balls, striking five boundaries and a six, anchoring the innings and keeping the scoreboard ticking when wickets were tumbling at the other end.

Pakistan’s bowlers were clinical throughout. Ahmed Daniyal (4-0-23-2) and Abbas Afridi (4-0-37-2) were among the top wicket-takers, while Salman Mirza stood out with 2 for 17 in his 4 overs.

Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Nawaz chipped in with a wicket apiece, and Salman Agha’s fielding played a crucial role in two key run-outs.

Chasing 134, Pakistan suffered an early blow as opener Saim Ayub was run out for just 1 run in the very first over. The second over saw left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam make a big impact, dismissing Fakhar Zaman (8) and Mohammad Haris (0) in consecutive deliveries.

Things went from bad to worse when Sakib removed Hasan Nawaz and Mohammad Nawaz in the fifth over — both without troubling the scorers.

The top-order collapse left Pakistan reeling at 47 for 7, with captain Agha Salman (8) and all-rounder Khushdil Shah (13) also failing to make an impact.

From there, Faheem led a lone resistance. The pace-bowling all-rounder formed a 41-run stand with Abbas Afridi, who contributed a useful 19 off 13 balls.

Faheem kept Pakistan’s hopes alive with a valiant 51 off 32 balls, laced with four fours and four sixes. However, his fighting knock came to an end in the final ball of the 19th over, bowled by Rishad.

With 13 runs needed in the final over, Pakistan started with a boundary off Mustafizur Rahman, momentarily raising tension among home fans. But Mustafiz held his nerve and struck back immediately, sealing an 8-run victory for Bangladesh. Jaker Ali, who earlier scored a match-winning 55, was named Player of the Match.

Bangladesh’s bowling unit was led by Shoriful, who was exceptional with 3 wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs after replacing Taskin Ahmed in the playing XI.

Sakib and Mahedy also impressed, taking 2 wickets each for 23 and 25 runs respectively. Mustafizur chipped in with 1 for 15 in 3.2 overs, while Rishad, despite getting a wicket, had an expensive outing, conceding 42 runs in his 4 overs.
