SLC announces Test squad for Bangladesh series
Just two days after a historic South Africa World Test Championship win, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are set to begin their own journey in the 2025–2027 WTC cycle.

Najmul Hossain Shanto’s men have already arrived in Sri Lanka and begun their preparations. However, until recently, they were unaware of who they would be facing.

That changed on Sunday when Sri Lanka Cricket officially announced an 18-member squad for the first Test of the two-match series, set to begin on June 17 at the Galle International Stadium.
As expected, Dhananjaya de Silva will lead the Lankan side. The match will also mark the end of an era, as veteran all-rounder Angelo Mathews is set to retire from international cricket following this Test.
Mathews, who made his debut in 2009, retires as Sri Lanka’s third-highest run scorer in Test cricket.

The squad features several fresh faces, with six uncapped players earning call-ups. In contrast, five players from the squad that was whitewashed by Australia at home have been dropped.
