Further rounds of discussions to decide the fate of Bangladesh-Sri Lanka Test series

Bangladesh Cricket Team’s tour to Sri Lanka for the Test series is still in doubt as the authority of Sri Lanka said the further rounds of discussions with health authorities would expose the whole project to better exposure.
The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) just entered the consultative process with the authorities in the Health Ministry. As a part of their consultative process, a high-level team of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), headed by SLC President Shammi Silva called on Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, head of national operation centre for prevention of COVID-19 outbreak (NOCPCO), chief of defence staff and commander of the army at the army HQ on Tuesday afternoon.
It’s learnt from the website of Sri Lanka Army-Defenders of the Nation that they sought assistance for smooth conduct of forthcoming Bangladesh Tournament in October along with the upcoming cricket tournament of Lanka Premier League (LPL)-2020 in November this year in Sri Lanka, adhering strictly to medical advice and all health precautions.

The discussion explored possibilities to have both international events and prioritizing highest standards of health while showing to the international community that ours is a country near successful in controlling the COVID-19 epidemic.
A 26-member squad from Bangladesh and five teams from T20 League plus current ODI players are expected to arrive in Colombo for the LPL in November.
Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva thanking the SLC for the initiative told them that further rounds of discussions with health authorities would expose the whole project to better exposure since the SLC has already entered the consultative process with the authorities in the Health Ministry.
The SLC also tabled a copy of the blueprint protocol that has now been laid in connection with the Bangladesh tour beginning September 27 to 13 October at Hambantota.
The SLC also thanked the Commander of the Army for his excellent contribution towards control of the epidemic in Sri Lanka.
SLC President Shammi Silva, secretary Ashley De Silva, CEO Daminda Attanayake, Team doctor Chandima Mapatuna, head of international cricket Chinthaka Edirimanne, head of domestic cricket Major Tanesh B. Dias and head of HR and PA to President were associated with the discussion at the Commander’s Officer.
