Australian batsman Peter Handscomb has blasted the media for fabricating videos to make it look like he was communicating with Cameron Bancroft during the infamous ball-tampering incident.
A tape on the TV showed that Handscomb was communicating with Darren Lehmann using a walkie-talkie, after which he ran to the field and spoke to Bancroft, who had been caught on the camera using a foreign substance to alter the condition of the ball.
The clip suggested that Handscomb worked as a communicator in the incident, which is something that irks him. Handscomb stated that he was only having a laugh with Bancroft over jokes and didn’t play any part in the plan that was implemented on the field.

“It’s actually amazing how much the media edited it, it shows me on the walkie-talkie then running out talking to Cam [Bancroft],” he said.
“I get put into a catching position next to Cam … and literally was just trying to have a joke with him. There was nothing else, mate. All this build-up about me trying to do something there was just, it wasn’t there.
“I was literally trying to have a joke with him. There was nothing else. It had been half an hour. We were talking about something else.”
The incident caused a havoc in the Australian cricketing fraternity, destroying everyone involved in the saga. Cameron Bancroft was given a 9-month suspension while captain Steve Smith and vice-captain David Warner – who was the instigator of everything – were handed yearlong bans, respectively.
