Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain has been named Hobart Hurricanes’ Big Bash Player of the Year after an impressive breakthrough season in the BBL.

In his first season in purple, Rishad claimed 15 wickets, the most by any Hurricanes bowler in the campaign. He finished with best figures of 3 for 26, an average of 20.86, and an economy rate of 7.82.

After being drafted by the Hurricanes in BBL 14 but missing out on playing, Rishad made a strong statement in his maiden season, quickly establishing himself as a key member of the bowling attack.

The Bangladeshi leg-spinner was regularly used early in the innings, often just after the powerplay, and played an important role throughout the tournament with his control and wicket-taking ability.

Rishad beat fellow nominees Nikhil Chaudhary, Nathan Ellis, and Chris Jordan to claim the award, capping off a memorable debut season in the competition.
