The franchise confirmed the signing on social media, announcing that the former Bangladesh captain will feature in the country’s first-ever franchise-based T20 league.
Uppsala Tigers expressed their excitement over landing one of their marquee names ahead of the draft, saying Shakib will represent the side in the opening season of the tournament.
The first edition of Nordic Smash T20 is scheduled to begin on June 15, with the final set for June 20.
The tournament will feature six franchises, while former India cricketer Munaf Patel has been named as the league’s brand ambassador.
Shakib will not be the only recognisable international name in the competition, with players such as Shannon Gabriel, Khary Pierre, Tom Bruce and Sheldon Cottrell also set to take part.
