Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain is set to step into the Big Bash League field as the young leg-spinner will represent the Hobart Hurricanes and has already shared a special message for fans after donning the team jersey for the first time.

Rishad left Dhaka on Tuesday night to take part in the BBL. After a long journey, he joined the Hurricanes squad and instantly forgot all the exhaustion. He didn’t wait long to share his first reaction after putting on the new colors.

Posting a photo of himself in the Hurricanes kit on Facebook, Rishad wrote: “Finally wore the Hobart Hurricanes kit. It feels amazing. Now looking forward to the matches.”

The Hurricanes’ Head of Strategy is none other than Australian legend Ricky Ponting. Under his guidance, the 23-year-old Bangladeshi spin-allrounder will feature in the BBL.

Rishad has already received a full-season NOC from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), meaning he will return home only after completing the entire campaign. As a result, he will not be available for this year’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The new Big Bash season begins on 14 December. Rishad’s Hurricanes are scheduled to start their campaign on the third day of the tournament against the Sydney Thunder.

Rishad becomes the second Bangladeshi to play in the BBL. Last year, after Shakib Al Hasan, he became the first Bangladeshi to be picked directly from the draft.
