Dhaka Capitals have added another foreign player to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The franchise announced the signing on their official Facebook page on Wednesday.

Afghan pacer Zia Sharifi is set to don Dhaka’s jersey this season.

He made an impressive impact in his debut Test against Zimbabwe, where he claimed 7 wickets. Sharifi has also played one T20 International for Afghanistan. Across 31 T20 matches in his career, he has taken a total of 37 wickets.

This will be Sharifi’s first appearance in any overseas franchise league, as he has previously played only in Afghanistan’s domestic tournaments. His BPL debut marks the beginning of his journey in international franchise cricket.

Earlier, ahead of the players’ draft, Dhaka Capitals had already signed star players such as Saif Hassan, Taskin Ahmed, Alex Hales, and Usman Khan through direct contracts.

The franchise has also made notable additions to its coaching staff. Toby Radford has been appointed as the head coach for the upcoming BPL season.

Prior to this, Dhaka Capitals created buzz by appointing Pakistani legend Shoaib Akhtar as the team’s mentor.
