Placed in the ‘A’ category, Litton was purchased by Rangpur Riders for Tk 70 lakh.
Towhid Hridoy and Naim Sheikh fetched even higher prices, Hridoy was sold for Tk 92 lakh to Rangpur too, while Naim became the auction’s only millionaire signing, acquired by Chattogram Royals for Tk 1 crore 10 lakh.
When asked whether the auction price met his expectations, Litton experienced a moment of light-hearted confusion.
Reporters were unsure whether he had gone for Tk 70 lakh or Tk 75 lakh. Interrupting, Litton asked, “Not 75 lakh? I thought it was 75 lakh!” After being informed that the actual figure was Tk 70 lakh, he smiled and said, “Some places reported 70, some 75, I got confused myself. You all can just add the extra 5 lakh!”
Jokes aside, Litton clarified that the auction value is beyond his control. Speaking at the press conference following Bangladesh’s 2–1 T20I series win against Ireland, the wicketkeeper-batter said, “Look, the auction is not in my control. I can only focus on the things I can control. I believe in God. If He ever wants me to earn more, He will provide. He must have felt 70 lakh is enough for now.”
Litton also shared that he did not watch the auction live. “The auction is good. I didn’t watch it because I was busy, I was at the gym. I felt the gym session was more important. Of course, if I get the chance next time, I’ll watch it.”
