The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025, initially set to begin on December 19, has been postponed by a week and will now kick off in Sylhet on December 26.

The BPL 2025 auction will be held on November 30 at 3 PM at a capital’s hotel, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced at a press conference on Wednesday.

The tournament was originally scheduled to start on December 19, but a day after the announcement, it was learned from a reliable source that the season would be postponed by a week, now commencing in Sylhet on December 26.

This year’s edition will feature six teams, with Noakhali added as the sixth franchise, participating under the name Noakhali Express.

Over 500 foreign players have registered for this year’s BPL auction, with BCB selecting 250 to go into the bidding, according to Iftekhar Rahman Mithu during the press briefing.

Previously, BCB had finalized five franchises but had indicated plans to expand the league. With the delayed auction, the sixth team has now been added. The BCB Governing Council had earlier, on November 5, approved the five franchises for the next five editions of the BPL.

This season’s participants include Rangpur Riders, Dhaka Capitals, Sylhet Titans, Chattogram Royals, Rajshahi Warriors, and the new addition Noakhali Express.
