Pakistan’s legendary fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is set to arrive in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), where he will serve as the mentor of Dhaka Capitals.

The franchise confirmed the development in an official statement.

Although BPL began after Shoaib had already retired from all forms of cricket, he had never been part of the tournament in any role before, neither as a coach nor as a mentor. This will be the first BPL appearance for the man famously known as the Rawalpindi Express.

Meanwhile, ahead of the new season, BPL franchises have already started building their squads, and Dhaka Capitals are no exception. The franchise has secured the services of English star Alex Hales.

Apart from Hales, Dhaka Capitals have also signed Pakistan’s Usman Khan, who played for Chattogram Kings last season. The right-handed batter is expected to be available throughout the tournament.

The franchise has also roped in two local players through pre-auction direct signings—batter Saif Hassan and fast bowler Taskin Ahmed.
