Hales, a regular feature in T20 leagues around the world, previously represented Rangpur Riders in the BPL. Although Dhaka Capitals had signed him last season as well, he eventually played for Rangpur.
The England international, a T20 World Cup winner, has played 11 Tests, 70 ODIs and 75 T20Is for his country. He has scored 2,074 runs in T20Is at an average above 30 and a strike rate close to 139, including one century and 12 half-centuries. He also has a century in the BPL.
Earlier, Dhaka Capitals signed Pakistani batter Usman Khan for the new season. Among local stars, they have already roped in Saif Hassan and Taskin Ahmed.
The 12th edition of the BPL is scheduled to begin on December 19. The number of participating teams has been reduced to five this season.
