After gaining his first experience as a team owner, Shakib had promised that his team would become stronger, more aggressive, and better prepared for victory in the future. He is now set to fulfill that promise.
The 12th season of the BPL is scheduled to begin on December 19. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has already announced the franchise ownerships.
There had been uncertainty about whether Shakib would continue as the owner of Dhaka Capitals, but reliable sources confirmed to daily newspaper ‘Samakal’ on Wednesday afternoon that he will remain an owner through Champion Sports.
This season, the tournament will feature five teams Dhaka, Rangpur, Chattogram, Rajshahi, and Sylhet, down from seven teams last season. Khulna and Barishal will not participate.
The franchise ownerships for the upcoming BPL season have been finalized as follows: Dhaka Capitals will be owned by Champion Sports, Rangpur Riders by Toggi Sports, Chattogram Challengers by Triangle Services, Rajshahi Royals by Nabil Group, and Sylhet Strikers by Cricket With Sami.
The player draft will be held on November 17, and the final is scheduled for January 16.
