The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has granted him a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the entire tournament, which is scheduled to begin on December 14.
Rishad was also part of the Hurricanes squad last season but could not participate due to his commitments in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Interestingly, the Hurricanes went on to clinch their maiden BBL title in his absence.
This time, Rishad is eager to make his mark on the field.
Rishad expressed his excitement about joining the Hobart, saying he grew up idolizing Ricky Ponting, who is the head of strategy, considers the chance to work under his guidance an incredible learning opportunity.
“Ponting has always been one of my favorite players since childhood. I used to watch him play regularly. Getting the chance to work under him will be an incredible experience,” Rishad said.
“I’m more excited about working with Ponting than anything else. Playing under his guidance will be a great learning opportunity for me.”
Explaining his decision to play in foreign leagues, Rishad said, “I asked myself how I could improve my game further. Then I realized that playing in overseas leagues would help me develop as a cricketer. These matches are played on different kinds of pitches around the world, and playing there has always been a dream of mine.”
The 23-year-old leg-spinner believes such experiences will help him enhance his bowling skills.
“Sharing the dressing room with top international players is always a learning experience. I hope to gain new knowledge and insights this season,” he said.
Rishad aims to make an impact both during and after the powerplay overs. “As a leg-spinner, my main job is to take wickets, especially after the powerplay. I want to continue doing that for Hobart as well,” he concluded.
