He expressed excitement at having seasoned campaigners like Pollard, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell alongside him, saying their experience would be invaluable.

"It means a lot, first and foremost, to represent Trinbago Knight Riders. It is a privilege that I'm getting the opportunity to lead this franchise. I want to give it my best shot, and hopefully make as many correct decisions as I can. It's a responsibility that has been passed on from Bravo to Pollard, and now to me,” Pooran said.

"For me, the most satisfying thing is that Pollard is still playing; Sunil [Narine] and Andre [Russell] are here too. That's a lot of experience I can bank on. To lead them on the field - it means a lot to me."

A veteran of the CPL since debuting for TKR (then Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel) as a 17-year-old in 2013, Pooran has played every season except 2015, missing that year due to injury. He has amassed 2,447 runs at a strike rate of 152.27 across 114 matches.

His career also includes stints with Barbados Royals and Guyana Amazon Warriors before returning to TKR in 2022. Currently, he captains MI New York in Major League Cricket and MI Emirates in the ILT20.

Pollard’s tenure saw TKR claim their fourth CPL crown in 2020 with a perfect 12-0 season, followed by multiple playoff runs. In 2024, the team fell to Barbados Royals in the Eliminator. Bravo, now retired, has taken over as head coach for this season.
