Speaking at a private event, Dhoni pointed out issues in the squad, especially with the batting order, though he noted the team had made efforts to address them.

“There were certain holes that we needed to plug. We were slightly worried about our batting order. But I think our batting order is quite sorted out now. Rutu (Gaikwad) will be coming back. So, it looks like we are quite sorted.

Ruturaj has been out of action since April 8, when CSK played against Punjab Kings. Although he had initially planned to join Yorkshire in England, he withdrew due to personal matters. He is now preparing to play in the upcoming Duleep Trophy for West Zone.

Despite CSK missing the playoffs for two consecutive seasons, Dhoni highlighted the team’s commitment to learning from their mistakes and making necessary improvements. He mentioned that the franchise is looking ahead to the mini-auction scheduled for December.

“I feel more often than not, we have been able to figure out what exactly went wrong. A small auction is coming in December, some loopholes are there, and we will try to plug those.”

This season marked the first time in CSK history that the team finished last in the IPL. However, with Gaikwad expected to return and plans to strengthen the squad, CSK remains hopeful of bouncing back stronger in the next edition.
