Earlier, it was an emotional moment for CSK fans as MS Dhoni returned to lead the side, stepping in after regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the season with an elbow injury.

CSK’s opening pair of Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra made a cautious start, scoring just 16 runs in the first three overs. In the fourth over, Conway tried to accelerate but fell to Moeen Ali while attempting a reverse sweep.

The LBW decision, upheld on the umpire’s call, gave Moeen a wicket maiden and put KKR on top.Harshit Rana struck in the very next over, removing Rachin to put further pressure on CSK.

Narine then weaved his magic by bowling Tripathi and then wickets kept tumbling. Narine even dismissed Dhoni with a clever variation after a strategic discussion with Rahane. The move worked perfectly and Dhoni departed cheaply.

Narine led the bowling chart with 3/13, while the rest of the attack chipped in with at least one wicket each to complete a clinical effort.

Chasing 104, KKR openers Quinton de Kock and Narine came out firing. The duo smashed 46 runs in the first four overs to set the tone. Debutant Anshul Kamboj gave CSK a brief moment of joy by castling De Kock for 23 (16). Rahane then joined Narine, and the pair punished the CSK bowlers.

Rinku Singh came in and finished the game in style with Rahane, launching a maximum to seal the win in just 10.1 overs. KKR chased down the target with 59 balls to spare that gave a massive boost to their net run rate.
