Veteran cricketer AB de Villiers has confirmed that he is set to make a return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) next season.

De Villiers’ confirmation has come just a few days after his former teammate Virat Kohli confirmed that the Proteas legend would return to the IPL next year.

“I am glad to hear Virat confirmed it. To be honest, we haven’t decided on anything yet. I will definitely be around IPL next year. I am not sure in what capacity but I am missing getting back there,” de Villiers said.

The former South Africa skipper had announced his retirement from all forms of the game after last year’s IPL. He started his IPL career with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and played three seasons for them.

De Villiers finished his IPL career at RCB, where he appeared in 156 games, he scored 4,491 runs at an average of 41.20.

He scored 5,162 IPL runs in 170 innings, averaging 39.71 and a strike rate of 151.69, with three centuries and 40 half-centuries, and his highest score was 133.
