Dean Jones wants KKR to let this young star open the batting in the IPL

Young batting sensation Shubman Gill who came in the limelight after playing a crucial role in India’s U-19 World Cup-winning campaign in 2018, has been considered as one of those stars who can do well in the international level.
After his stunning show in the U-19 World Cup, Kolkata Knight Riders bought him for the IPL and has been a part of the team for the past two seasons. But being a top-order batsman he had to bat in the middle. However, he excelled in there too and has four half-centuries to his name so far.
However, former Australian cricketer, Dean Jones believes that this is the time for KKR to let Shubman Gill open the batting and showcase to the world his extraordinary talent.
“I want to see Shubman Gill open the batting for Kolkata Knight Riders. I think there is an opportunity for it now and the time has come for them to put him at the top of the order and let him play,” Jones said.
As Chris Lynn no longer a part of the KKR line-up, there is a chance that Gill could open the innings for KKR in this season. 13th edition of IPL will take place in the UAE from September 19 and Gill could use this opportunity for his betterment.
However, the former player would be interested to see Delhi Capitals star Rishabh Pant’s game as well.
“I am also very keen to see how Rishabh Pant plays. He has been a bit up and down and it will be interesting to see how he handles the pressure of knowing that Dhoni is back playing,” Deano told Hindustan Times during an exclusive chat from his home in Australia.
