As the Dhaka Premier League progresses, the teams are trying their best to accumulate points and jump above in the table. It is with this very motive that both Sheikh Jamal and Mohammedan entered the pitch.

After losing the toss and being put to bat first, Sheikh Jamal openers started brilliantly. Indeed, openers Shykat Ali and Hasanuzzaman put up a 64 runs partnership before the latter was scalped by U19 sensation Qazi Onik after making 33 from 43 balls.

The other opener, Shykat Ali was the next to go after making 50 from 53 balls, who was picked by Ebadat Hossain. Digvijay Rangi came in next, but could only manage 25 from 53 balls before Enamul sent him to sleep with the fishes.

Elias Sunny came  in at number 5, but didn’t trouble the scorers much as he could only conjure 3 runs from 5 balls. Taijul Islam got his wicket. After that, Rakin Ahmed and Nurul Hasan scored 64 and 77, respectively, to power their teams’ score to 289.

Nurul, especially, was at his vehement best, scoring those 77 runs in 59 balls before getting run out.

Taijul Islam and Subashis Roy got two wickets each while Qazi Onik, Enamul Haque and Ebadat Hossain picked on scalp each.

In response, Mohammedan started poorly, with Jony Talukdar wasting 18 balls and not scoring a single run off it. He finally got out Sohag Gazi for a duck.

After his dismissal, captain Shamsur Rahman and opener Salman Butt formed a great partnership of 119 runs before Butt departed after making a well-paced 81 from 75 balls. Shamsur Rahman, however, stayed on till the very end to score 123 from 124 and win the game for his team.

Raqibul Hasan, on the other end, played a magnificent support role to score 63 from 49 balls and help Shamsur take the team over the line with 5 wickets in hand.

Robiul Haque took two wickets with Sohag Gazi, Tanbir Hayder and Elias Sunny picked one scalp each, but couldn’t save their team from a loss.

Shekh Jamal Dhanmondi – 287/9 after 50 overs.
