Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Cricket Operations Committee Chairman Akram Khan said that they are trying to add a string of matches over shorter format during their Sri Lanka tour, out of the ICC’s Future Tour’s Programme (FTP).

Bangladesh suspended their three-match Test series against Sri Lanka owing to the mounting COVID-19 pandemic and the other reason, the series which was actually scheduled to be played in July-August in Sri Lanka.

However, the rescheduling of the tour fixture is not going to have waited for long. As both BCB and Sri Lanka Cricket [SLC] are holding talks to settle the slot of the tour in October with some changes in the schedule, said Akram Khan.

“Talks between the BCB and the SLC are going on about the new schedule and number of games along with its formats of the Sri Lanka tour although so far nothing has been finalized. In bilateral talks, we wanted to go to Sri Lanka in October. Now let’s see what they say,” said Akram Khan.

“Hopefully in a week, everything will be final. Earlier we were only scheduled to play a three-Test series. We are also trying to add some extra matches in the new discussion that started after the suspension. That proposal has also been made to the Lankan board,” Akram told a leading Bengali web portal.

The confirmation hasn’t been made yet about which format of the games will be added to the new schedule.

“We wanted to play some warm-up matches before the series started so that our cricketers could be well prepared. In addition to the Test series, we also want to play some limited-over international matches. It could be an ODI, it could be a T20. We will be able to say about it when the discussion will be final,” the BCB director said.
