The 11th edition of the tournament will feature 350 schools from all 64 districts of Bangladesh, with more than 8,500 young cricketers expected to take part.
A total of 651 matches will be played as teams battle for supremacy in what is widely regarded as the first major stepping stone for aspiring cricketers in the country.
During the launch event, Bangladesh internationals Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy became emotional as they recalled their school cricket journeys and the role the tournament played in shaping their careers.
The tournament has been sponsored by Prime Bank PLC for the past 10 years. Speaking at the press conference, the bank’s Additional Managing Director Nazim A Chowdhury said the institution takes pride in being part of a platform that has already helped produce around a dozen national team cricketers.
One of the biggest highlights of this year’s tournament is the expansion of the education scholarship programme for young players.
Previously, the top 15 cricketers received scholarships at the end of the competition. This year, following a request from the BCB, that number has been increased to 25 players.
