NSC has officially informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) of its decision to dissolve the current BCB committee led by Aminul Islam Bulbul, following the findings of the investigation report into last year’s board election.
The development was confirmed by NSC Sports Director Aminul Ehsan during a press briefing on Tuesday afternoon.
Along with notifying the ICC about the proposed dissolution, the council has also informed the global governing body about plans to form an interim committee to oversee the board’s affairs.
The move comes in the aftermath of the controversial BCB election held last October, which had drawn criticism even before voting took place.
Representatives from several of the country’s leading clubs had withdrawn from the process, citing allegations of bias and irregularities.
After the new government took office in Bangladesh, the NSC launched an investigation into the election, focusing on claims of misconduct and manipulation in the voting process.
On Sunday, the five-member probe committee, led by retired Supreme Court judge AKM Asaduzzaman, submitted its report to the National Sports Council. Just two days later, the NSC moved to declare the current Bulbul-led board dissolved.
The newly formed ad hoc committee has been tasked with conducting a fresh BCB election within the next 90 days.
Alongside Tamim, the committee includes Rashna Imam, Mirza Yasir Abbas, Syed Ibrahim Ahmed, Israfil Khosru, Minhajul Abedin Nannu, Athar Ali Khan, Tanvir Chowdhury, Salman Ispahani, Rafiqul Islam Babu, and Fahim Sinha.
