Reflecting on his earlier short-term tenure, he remarked that what began as a “quick T20 innings” has now turned into a long-term commitment to take Bangladesh cricket to greater heights.
Bulbul will now serve a full four-year term.
“I’ve taken this as part of a journey. I’ve also fallen in love with the development of Bangladesh cricket. Initially, I came in for a short time, that was always the plan. But when I started achieving small successes through what I call my ‘triple century’, I couldn’t resist the temptation to continue. That’s why I’ve stayed on, to keep serving the country with that same purpose.” Bulbul said.
Bulbul, who first took charge in May, had initially been appointed for a brief stint following the resignation of former president Faruque Ahmed, who will now return to the board as one of the two vice-presidents, alongside Shakhawat Hossain.
The day-long election, conducted through both physical and electronic ballots at a Dhaka hotel, saw 115 out of 156 eligible voters cast their votes. Twenty-three directors were elected, while two government-nominated members completed the 25-member board.
