The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) elections are scheduled to be held on October 6, but controversy continues to dominate the build-up. After weeks of disputes over 15 clubs’ eligibility, former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has withdrawn his nomination, along with 14 other candidates.

"It's a way of our protest since we don't want any part in this dirty game," Tamim told reporters in his instant reaction at the BCB headquarters in Mirpur.

"Today cricket has lost 100 percent; there is no doubt about it. You talk loudly about needing to stop fixing in Bangladesh cricket; first stop the election fixing, then we can think about stopping cricket fixing. .....This election has become a black spot for the BCB," Tamim told reporters in response to a query over his withdrawal.

"This is not an election. This is not an election, and it doesn't fit with cricket in any way. Cricket, Bangladesh cricket, does not deserve this. Bangladesh cricket fans also do not deserve this" he added.

Earlier, Tamim had also expressed frustration when 15 third-division clubs were initially excluded from the draft voter list.

The full list of withdrawn candidates is as follows:
