Last year, participating as the High Performance XI, Bangladesh finished as runners-up, narrowly missing out on the title after losing to the Adelaide Strikers Academy in the final.
This time, the ‘A’ team will represent the country, aiming to go one step further.
The 2025 edition of the tournament will see 11 teams in action, including four international sides. Alongside Bangladesh ‘A’, Pakistan Shaheens and Nepal have also confirmed their participation.
Before flying to Australia captain Nurul Hasan Sohan exuded confidence, making it clear that the team’s sights are set on winning rather than just gaining experience.
“I don’t believe much in the idea of simply going to learn,” Sohan said. “Learning is part of life, but since we’re going to play a tournament, I think the main target should be reaching the final. All of us have our eyes on lifting the trophy.”
The tour will feature more than just T20 action — Bangladesh ‘A’ will also play a four-day match against South Australia on August 28, serving as preparation for next year’s two-Test series against Australia. For that reason, Test regulars like Nayeem Hasan and Hasan Mahmud have been included in the squad.
