BCB launches investigation after serious allegations against Taskin Ahmed

Taskin Ahmed
Bangladesh national team fast bowler Taskin Ahmed has been accused of assault and issuing threats in a shocking off-field incident. Reports suggest that on the night of July 26, Taskin allegedly lured a man named Sifatur Rahman Saurav to the Mirpur-1 area over a phone call and physically assaulted him.

Following the incident, the victim, Saurav, filed a General Diary (GD) at the Mirpur Model Police Station. Police have yet to make an official statement regarding the matter.

BCB Director and Chairman of the Umpires Committee, Iftekhar Rahman Mithu, commented on the issue, saying:
“I saw the news in the media this morning. Our officials, Aminul Islam Bulbul and Fahim [Nazmul Abedin] bhai, have also seen it. An investigation is already underway. If this really happened, it is very unfortunate. Icon players should not be involved in such matters. I don’t want to comment further until we know exactly what happened.”

According to the GD, Taskin called Saurav to a specific location where he allegedly punched and injured him, along with issuing threats. Police sources claim that the two previously shared a friendly relationship.

Attempts to reach Taskin Ahmed for comment were unsuccessful. His phone was found switched off, and he did not respond to WhatsApp calls either. Efforts to contact his father, Abdur Rashid, also went unanswered.
Just days ago, Taskin played a key role for Bangladesh in the third T20I against Pakistan. After earning praise for his on-field performance, the pacer now finds himself at the center of a serious off-field controversy.
