After being asked to field first, Bangladesh restricted the hosts to just 132/7, with Mahedi Hasan spinning a web around the Sri Lankan batters. The off-spinner delivered a stunning spell of 4 wickets for just 11 runs in his 4 overs, dismantling the top order and earning the Player of the Match award.

Speaking after the win, Mahedi said:

"I know the wickets in Sri Lanka; the ball was spinning in the last two games so I stuck to my lines and lengths. The new ball had a bit of spin so I tried to land it in good areas and luckily, I was successful."

In response, Bangladesh started cautiously and rode on crucial knocks from Litton and Towhid Hridoy. Despite a tense finish, they held their nerves and crossed the line, scripting a famous win.

Litton, who was named Player of the Series for his composed batting across the three matches, was emotional during the presentation:

"I have no words to express at the moment how our team played. The boys showed character. We didn't play well in the first T20I but then came back strongly. It's a big achievement for Bangladesh. Earlier we didn't win here but this will boost us moving forward."

He also revealed a key tactical decision behind picking Mahedi:

"I believe that this surface would suit Mahedi and that's why he played today."

With the T20 Asia Cup and ICC T20 World Cup on the horizon, this landmark victory could serve as the perfect launchpad for greater ambitions.
