Following Bangladesh’s dominant 83-run victory over Sri Lanka in the second T20I in Dambulla, captain Litton Das—who was also named Player of the Match for his match-winning knock—heaped praise on teammate Shamim Hossain for his all-round performance that played a crucial role in keeping the series alive.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Litton reflected on his return to form and Bangladesh’s strong team effort, singling out Shamim’s contribution with both bat and in the field.

“Have been trying to play good cricket, but that wasn't happening. Credit goes to Shamim, the way he batted, it was amazing,” said Litton, who scored 76 off 50 balls to anchor the innings.
Shamim smashed 48 off just 27 balls at the death, helping Bangladesh post a competitive 177/6, and later pulled off a brilliant run-out of Kusal Mendis, shifting the momentum firmly in Bangladesh’s favor.
“That run-out by Shamim to remove Kusal Mendis was very important. He has been in very good form,” Litton added.

Litton also acknowledged the quality of the pitch, noting that patience was key.

“It was a good pitch to bat on. You had to take time on that surface. You could capitalize later,” he said.
On the bowling front, Litton credited young leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, who picked up 3 wickets, and Shoriful Islam, who made early inroads.
“He (Rishad) is a big factor. When he bowls well, we are always in. Shoriful also bowled really well,” Litton concluded.
