He now holds the world record for the most international runs by a player who has never bowled a single delivery — surpassing Australia’s Adam Gilchrist. Mushfiqur’s tally now stands at 15,502 international runs, eclipsing Gilchrist’s 15,461.

At 38 years and 39 days old, Mushfiqur also became the oldest non-opening batter to score a Test century, breaking the previous record held by Pakistan’s Younis Khan, who scored a hundred at the age of 37 years and 216 days against Sri Lanka in 2015.
Additionally, Mushfiqur overtook Mohammad Ashraful to become the highest run-scorer for Bangladesh in Tests played on Sri Lankan soil — a further testament to his enduring class and consistency.
