The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, officially marking the Tigers' entry into the 2025–2027 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.

The first Test will be held at the picturesque Galle International Stadium from 17 June, followed by the second Test in Colombo from 25 June. The Bangladesh squad is scheduled to depart for Sri Lanka on 13 June to prepare for the crucial red-ball assignment.

Top-order batter Najmul Hossain Shanto has been retained as Bangladesh’s Test captain for another year, reaffirming the BCB’s trust in his leadership. Shanto initially took charge in 2024 and has since grown into the role with a focus on long-term red-ball stability.
All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz also continues as vice-captain, preserving the leadership combination that guided Bangladesh through the previous season.

The series carries added significance as it kickstarts Bangladesh's campaign in the new ICC World Test Championship cycle (2025–2027). With key points up for grabs early on, the team will be looking to start strong in overseas conditions.
