Mahmudullah and Mushfiq show interest in coaching roles, says Bulbul

Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad
Mahmudullah Riyad has announced his retirement from international cricket, while Mushfiqur Rahim has stepped away from limited-overs formats but continues to feature in Tests. Interestingly, both senior cricketers have shown interest in becoming international coaches.

This information was revealed by newly appointed Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam Bulbul. Speaking to the media on Sunday at Bangladesh Sports Journalists Association (BSJA), Bulbul stated that even before he officially joined the BCB, both Mushfiq and Mahmudullah had reached out to him seeking guidance on pursuing coaching careers.

"They contacted me before I joined the board. Both Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad expressed their desire to become international coaches," said Bulbul. "We aim to launch education and training programs through the BCB to support such ambitions."
It is not uncommon for former Bangladeshi cricketers to take up coaching after their playing careers. Among them, Khaled Mahmud Sujon stands out as one of the most successful coaches in the domestic circuit.

Other former players like Hannan Sarkar and Mohammad Ashraful have also ventured into coaching. Hannan has already coached Abahani in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL), while Ashraful served as the batting coach of Rangpur Riders and led them to a title win in the Global Super League.
