Aminul Islam Bulbul has been elected as the new president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), following a vote by board directors during a meeting on Friday.

Speaking at his first press conference as BCB president, the former national team captain said he intends to make a swift and memorable impact. “I want to play a quick T20 innings—something that people will remember,” said Bulbul, using a cricket analogy to describe his short-term role.

Bulbul’s tenure is expected to last until the next BCB elections, scheduled for October. He emphasized his desire to oversee a fair and transparent election before stepping down.
When asked what kind of progress can be made in such a brief period, Bulbul responded, “Tests last five days, ODIs go on for seven hours—but I want to play a quick T20 innings.”

However, the newly elected president clarified that he did not assume the role with a fixed timeline in mind. “I am the elected president of the BCB. I didn’t come here with any specific timeframe,” he added.

Bulbul, who was Bangladesh’s first Test centurion, brings extensive experience from his work in cricket development over the past 18 years with the ICC and ACC.
“This is a new test for me, a new opportunity to contribute again. People often asked me why I didn’t join Bangladesh cricket administration before. The truth is, this is the first time I’ve been asked. I was approached and asked if I’d be willing to work if given the opportunity,” Bulul said.
“I was elected by the board directors. Now, we will work together to take Bangladesh cricket forward. I believe it’s not just the 11 players on the field who represent the country. Everyone in the country plays a role. We all support Bangladesh cricket, and we want to take it to new heights” he added.
