Taskin optimistic about Tait’s coaching

Bangladesh has appointed former Australian speedster Shaun Tait as the new fast bowling coach, with his tenure beginning during the ongoing Pakistan tour. Pacer Taskin Ahmed welcomed the appointment and expressed confidence in Tait’s potential impact on the team.

“I hope Shaun Tait will do well. He played cricket in the modern era across formats, including T20s, and represented a major team like Australia. I was actually his teammate in the 2013 BPL with the Chittagong Kings. We share a good relationship, and I believe he’ll coach us well—even though I haven’t worked with him in a coaching capacity before. Still, I’m excited and hopeful that good things are ahead.” Taskin said at the final of the Prime Bank School Cricket Tournament at the Bashundhara Sports Complex.

Tait's appointment signals Bangladesh’s continued efforts to strengthen their pace attack with high-level international expertise.
Due to injury, Taskin is currently sidelined and will miss the three-match T20I series against Pakistan. He is undergoing rehabilitation at Mirpur, and if all goes well, he is expected to return during the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.

Speaking about his ongoing battle with injuries, Taskin said, “Injuries are part of a fast bowler’s life. It’s just the reality. When I had shoulder and other injuries, everyone was concerned — even I doubted whether I’d be able to play Test cricket again. But everything is temporary.”

Students of Police Lines School and Comilla Modern High School went through a frustrating period as they couldn’t take the field due to rain, missing out on competing in the final.
However, their disappointment was somewhat eased by an unexpected delight — getting to meet Taskin in person.
