Since taking charge, Faruque has faced several controversies, including recent criticism over the relocation of BCB’s fixed deposit receipts (FDRs) across various banks.
These actions have sparked questions regarding his alleged connections to the former ruling party. However, the new BCB chief firmly denied such claims, stating he has no links with any fascist regime.

“I have no relationship with fascists. If I did, I wouldn’t be standing here talking to you today,” Faruque told reporters on Saturday (May 3) during the final of the Third Division Qualifiers. “These are completely fabricated and baseless accusations.”

He further clarified, “I was appointed under the new government. If I had even the slightest connection to the previous regime, I wouldn’t have received this responsibility.”
Addressing the criticism, Faruque stated, “Often, good work gets overshadowed by unnecessary criticism. I welcome constructive criticism, but baseless and agenda-driven comments only create confusion. I believe a faction that wants to take over the board presidency is fueling these criticisms. I urge you to present the truth, not bias. My duty is to move Bangladesh cricket forward. I will point out flaws and work to address them.”
