Tamim Iqbal shifted to CCU after undergoing angioplasty

Bangladesh cricket star Tamim Iqbal has undergone angioplasty after suffering two heart attacks and is currently in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU). Mohammedan Sporting Club manager Sajjad Ahmed confirmed the news to the media on Sunday afternoon.

According to Dr. Debashis Chowdhury, the head of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) medical department, Tamim experienced two heart attacks, but his condition is now improving.

Tamim had traveled to BKSP (Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan) in Savar in the morning to participate in Mohammedan Sporting Club's match against Shinepukur Cricket Club in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL). He even took part in the toss.
However, before entering the field, he complained of severe chest pain and was immediately rushed to KPJ Hospital in Savar.

Match referee Debabrata Pal, who accompanied Tamim to the hospital, stated that doctors performed an angiogram, revealing a blockage in his heart. As a result, doctors decided to insert a stent to clear the blockage.

Initially, arrangements were made to airlift him to Dhaka via helicopter, but due to his deteriorating condition, he was unable to board. Doctors at Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hospital decided to perform the procedure locally instead.
Tamim's wife Ayesha Siddiqa, elder brother Nafees Iqbal, and other family members are currently at the hospital. BCB President Faruque Ahmed has also visited him. Earlier, upon hearing the news of Tamim’s condition, BCB postponed its 19th Board Meeting to focus on his health situation.
Fans and teammates continue to pray for Tamim’s speedy recovery, while doctors are closely monitoring his condition.
