Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting believes Bangladesh will struggle in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, citing a lack of quality compared to other teams.

Speaking to ICC, Ponting acknowledged Bangladesh’s strength in home conditions but expressed doubts about their performance in foreign conditions.

"Bangladesh will face a hard time in the Champions Trophy. They are always dangerous in their own conditions, but I don’t think they will get that advantage here. Even Afghanistan has a better chance than Bangladesh," Ponting said.

With the tournament set to be played in Pakistan and Dubai, Bangladesh will have to prove themselves in unfamiliar conditions as they aim to make an impact on the global stage.

Bangladesh last played an ODI on December 12 against the West Indies.

Their ICC Champions Trophy campaign will begin on February 20 with a crucial match against India. Placed in a challenging group alongside Pakistan and New Zealand, Bangladesh faces a tough road to the knockout stage.

The Tigers will take on New Zealand on February 24 before facing Pakistan on February 27.
