Bangladesh Women beat Scotland by 34 runs

Batting first, Bangladesh posted a total of 184, led by captain Nigar Sultana Joty’s gritty 68 off 120 balls. 


Despite losing three early wickets for just 56 runs, Jyoti stabilized the innings with crucial partnerships. She added 51 runs with Sobhana Mostary and later partnered with Swarna Akter, who contributed 21 runs. 


Joty’s resilience helped Bangladesh set a competitive target before being dismissed in the 49th over.

Left-arm spinner Nahida Akter starred with 3 wickets for 30 runs, while Rabeya Khan, Fahima Khatun, and pacer Marufa Akter took two wickets each.


The hosts lost their first wicket in the third over, with Marufa dismissing Kycia Joseph. Key batter Hayley Matthews fell to Nahida, and shortly after, Marufa removed Deandra Dottin. Despite Shemaine Campbelle’s effort to steady the innings with 28 runs, 


Nahida struck again to bowl her out, leaving the West Indies reeling at 70/6. The remaining wickets fell quickly, sealing a historic win for Bangladesh.


This victory marks Bangladesh’s first-ever win against West Indies in women’s cricket. After losing the first ODI, this triumph not only keeps Bangladesh in the series but also highlights their determination to secure a spot in the upcoming World Cup.
