Tamim Iqbal, Bangladesh’s premier opener, etched his name into the record books once again as he became the first Bangladeshi cricketer to score 8,000 runs in T20 cricket.

The 35-year-old achieved this milestone on Thursday during Fortune Barishal’s match against Rangpur Riders in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Heading into the game, Tamim was just nine runs shy of the landmark. He reached the feat in his 272nd T20 match with a composed innings.

Tamim’s accomplishment places him in a league of his own among Bangladeshi batters. The next closest to this milestone is Shakib Al Hasan, who has 7,438 T20 runs, followed by Mahmudullah Riyad with 6,090 runs.
