Bangladesh Cricket Board’s plan to resume competitive cricket in a broader scale by hosting Bangabandhu T20 Cup eventually started to roll officially through two-day fitness camp beginning at the Sher-e-Bangla National on Monday.
BCB announced on Saturday that the player’s draft for the upcoming Bangabandhu T20 Cup will commence on November 12 that will be played by five corporate houses.
The teams- Fortune Barishal, Beximco Dhaka, Minister Group Rajshahi, Gemcon Khulna and Gazi Group Chattogram- will take part in the competition, slated from third week of November.
According to BCB officials around 113 cricketers will take part in mandatory fitness test as cricketers failing to earn required 11 points in the beep test will not be considered eligible for the competition.

The test has been planned to particularly assess the fitness levels of cricketers outside the National Team, High Performance Team and Under 19 set ups.
BCB included a number of cricketers outside the national radar for years in the like Mohammad Ashraful, Shahriar Nafees, Abdur Razzak, Ziaur Rahman, Farhad Reza, Sohag Gazi, for the fitness test along with uncapped cricketers.
The T20 tournament will be the second competition to be conducted by the BCB in the Covid environment. A three-team 50-over competition was recently held, with cricketers and members of the team management placed in a bio-bubble. BCB, meanwhile, is not convinced about hosting the remaining part of Dhaka Premier League - the country's traditional 50-over tournament involving clubs from Dhaka, which is considered to be a major source of income for the majority of cricketers in Bangladesh.
The DPL came to an abrupt halt in March after completion of the first round of the tournament. The players involved in it were hoping for some sort of a road map to resume cricket and the upcoming domestic T20 tournament is a step in that direction taken by the BCB.
BCB Cricket operation chairman Akram Khan hoped that the upcoming T20 tournament would help the players financially considering they are living in uncertainty due to the absence of key competitions.
According to Akram highest remuneration for the players could be around Tk 15 lakh with Tk four to five lakh set for the lowest grade while the board would
Cricketers and members of the team management placed in a bio-bubble in the recently concluded three-team 50-over competition by maintaining strict health protocol and a bio-security bubble developed by BCB medical team and it will be followed in the coming days during the forthcoming tournament as well considering board decided that there will be no compromise of the health security.
