Sticking with the momentum, Mumbai Indians (MI) registered yet another a comfortable victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 27th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) in Abu Dhabi. Mumbai won the game with two balls to spare courtesy Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav’s heroics. 

DC captain Shreyas Iyer elected to bat first after winning the toss. Ajinkya Rahane and Alex Carey came in place of Shimron Hetmyer and Rishabh Pant for Delhi. However, Delhi didn’t have flying start as Mumbai ensured a tight powerplay with the fiery spell from Trent Boult. And, he didn’t disappoint as he dismissed in-form Prithvi shaw at the cover for mere 4

Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane steadied the ship with a 20-run stand before Krunal Pandya trapped the latter before the stumps for 15. Later, Dhawan and Iyer played an 85-run partnership for the third wicket. Despite being slow in their batting, they made a solid foundation. While Dhawan scored an unbeaten 69 off 52 with 6 fours and a six, Iyer fell for 42 off 33 with 5 fours.

Meanwhile later cameos from Marcus Stoinis (13) and Alex Carey (14) at the end helped Delhi to post 162-4 on the board in 20 overs.

While chasing, Mumbai had a bizarre start as the captain Rohit Sharma was seen struggling in the middle before holed out to mid-wicket off Kagiso Rabada for mere 5 off 12. While he was struggling to score, his opening partner de Kock looked in good touch with a few big hits by then and scored 25 off 18 as well inside the first five overs.

However, Suryakumar Yadav’s entry made things better for Mumbai. The in-form batsman smashed boundaries in every over and helped the scoreboard ticking. On the other hand, de Kock brought up his fifty in the 9th over. However, the 46-run partnership did not last long and it was ended by the in-form R. Ashwin, who dismissed the opener for 53.

Meanwhile, Yadav went strong alongside Ishan Kishan, who also joined the party with a few big hits. However, Yadav reached his half-century with a maximum over deep backward square leg off Rabada before the bowler had the last laugh and he was removed for 53.
