Bangladesh young pace bowling prodigy Hasan Mahmud will miss the initial part of the three-team 50-over tournament as he is rested for one week for sustained knee injury, said BCB official on Wednesday.

The injury forced him to skip the second two-day intra-squad game that was played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium recently.

‘’He will need one week rest. There was no severe injury but we want him to rest as part of our precaution,’’ said BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury on Wednesday.

Mahmud showed his pace in the first two-day games when he bamboozled the wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim as one of the technically best batsman of the country was beaten by sheer pace of the youngster.

However, his heroics was short lived as he sustained injury on the same day that forced him to bowl only nine overs.
