Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo along with other coaches including fast-bowling coach Ottis Gibson and fielding coach Ryan Cook joined the players’ ongoing individual and small-group training sessions after being received the government’s order (GO).
Trainer Neek Lee, who was tested positive for coronavirus in the first-phased test, also joined with them after being tested negative. They all observed the full-fledged training sessions at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) and its surrounding areas-National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground, gymnasium and Indoors.
They all were monitoring how players were batting at the center wickets, high catch practice coupled with running and stretching sessions of the players.

While Test captain Mominul Haque has been practicing at the SBNCS’s center wicket, their eagle eyes are fixed at Mominul’s batting. Therefore, Ryan Cook helped Mominul in batting practice by throwing balls towards him and Gibson stood as umpire for half-an-hour.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim became busy with Ryan Cook in high catching practice after holding an intense batting practice before Mominul Haque. Rahim wearing gloves was running westward and sometimes running right-left side to do the catching practice.
In addition, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) arranged Individual Training Sessions (ITS) at the request of the interested players, who were practicing since July 19 maintaining the health regiment and safety protocols during the hike of the highly contagious COVID-19.
The players meanwhile regained their fitness and honed their skills and techniques through completing a slew of steps of the scheduled training without any physical presence of the foreign coaches, who provided inputs via online.
The BCB has planned to start a team-wise practice for the Tigers’ upcoming Sri Lanka tour from September 27, merely seven days before the departure of the Bangladesh Team. Head coach Domingo and Cook returned to Bangladesh from their respective countries on September 7, while Gibson on September 8, a day after the arrival of the head coach.
Before them, national team physiotherapist Julian Calefato and trainer Neek Leer landed the country on August 20.
They all went to home quarantine for the compulsory 14 days but the BCB applied to the government to reduce their quarantine period ahead of the Tigers’ Sri Lanka tour. The government approved their plea after which they appeared in the field after a week-long quarantine.
