Bangladesh pace bowling coach Ottis Gibson said that his major emphasis will be to bring back match fitness to the pace bowlers when they resume training as he feels that will be the key considering their long lay-off due to corona pandemic.
Bangladesh Cricket Board is planning a week-long residential camp ahead of the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka which was earlier scheduled for July-August but was postponed because of the COVID-19 situation.
Bangladesh are expected to travel to Sri Lanka on September 27 for the three-match Test series that is scheduled to start in Kandy from October 24 that will be the tourist's first three-match Test series in six years.
"In terms of what will be the emphasis on the camp you know the guys have been doing a lot of fitness during the lockdown period and I know the guys have been doing a lot of back to bowling stuff to get up to speed. Certainly, when we get camp in Dhaka and in Sri Lanka it is trying to get guys as much match fit as possible before the first Test," said Gibson.
"I know we have got three practice games scheduled so making sure that everybody or the key guys that we want or think will play in the series get enough time on their feet enough practice time to get them as match fit as we can for the Test series," he said adding that he has full confidence that the tourist's pace unit will be able to trouble the host in the upcoming Test series.
