Bangladesh High Performance Unit’s bowling coach Champaka Ramanayeke believe that pacers from the HP unit will throw a tough challenge for the national team batsmen in the month-long training and conditioning camp ahead of the Test series against Sri Lanka.
‘’We have a good bunch of fast bowlers in the HP team and the Under-19 team that won the World Cup. Mahmudul Hasan is very quick, Mugdho [Mukidul Islam] is also a very good bowler,’’ Champaka, the former Sri Lankan pacer, who earlier, served as the bowling coach of the national team, was quoted in an English daily on Thursday.

‘’From the Under-19 team; Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mrittunjoy Chowdhury and Shariful Islam all are good pacers. If they get proper care, they can be good assets for Bangladesh,’’ he said.
Champaka feels it is a great opportunity for the young pacers of HP team when the members of the national team and the HP team do a conditioning and training camp together both in Bangladesh and in Sri Lanka before the Test series.
‘‘This is a great opportunity for the upcoming pacers because this is the best way to learn. As they will be bowling or playing practice matches against their more senior and matured counterparts, they will learn a lot and get a close feel about international cricket. They will know about the required standard and the improvement level,’ he said.
‘’The HP team is supposed to play few practice matches against the national team players before the start of their own series, I think pacers from HP team will put on a tough challenge in front of national team players.Especially in abroad you need pacers to pick early wickets.’
