Bangladesh Test opener Sadman Islam said on Wednesday that he had recovered sufficiently from the wrist surgery after completing rehabilitation program and eyeing to make a strong comeback when cricket resumes either at international or domestic platforms.

Sadman missed out from Bangladesh’s first Test in Pakistan for a wrist injury in February and later was sent to Australia for surgery been carrying a wrist injury picked up while playing for the Bangladesh Cricket Board XI in the Dr (Capt) K. Thimmappiah Memorial tournament in Bangalore in July-August.

Left-hander Shadman played in the two-Test matches against India last November, but the pain in his wrist recently resurfaced and eventually he had to go under the knife.

"Lockdown began in the country within two to three days since I returned back from Australia after the surgery and so I could not do any kind of treatment and later Elahi Sir gave me some work to do at home as part of rehabilitation. Later I began to bat when there was an improvement in my hand. After two and a half months I started to do some running and drill at the academy premises along with gym session and now the camp started," said Sadman.

"I did not practice anywhere after the lockdown and Eid. I did not bat for long hours against the bowling machine and in the meantime, all I did was doing some drills. I was scared initially when I was up against the machine as I did not bat earlier and felt that it might be painful but I did not felt any pain after the opening session. Now the bowlers are bowling and everything is going fine as there is no pain," he said.

"There is no cricket after the lockdown but we have a series and there is talk of a domestic cricket tournament in the coming days. I can practice like the way I did earlier and could bat like before so I am hoping that I can do well when cricket resumes in full scale," he added.
