Liton to see in action tomorrow

Wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Kumar Das will join the ongoing individual training sessions, arranged by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to bring players back to the cricket field ahead of their crucial Test series in Sri Lanka.

Liton will be seen in the cricket field after a long time.  He was scheduled to play in cricket for Abahani Club Limited in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) in March.

The series comprises three Tests, commencing on October 24. The initial two tests of the three-match Test series will begin at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. The Tests are part of the World Test Championship (WTC).

Bangladesh already played three Tests but they are yet to chalk up any point to their points tally. Of them, they played two against India and one against Pakistan after which Tigers played a Test against Zimbabwe in February 2020 at home yard but that was out of WTC.

Liton was absent from the initial third phase of the individual training module that was prepared by the board with the help of the national team physiotherapist Julian Calefato and the BCB medical department.

With the arrival of Liton, all the important cog players of the Bangladesh team have joined the training after Mushfiqur Rahim, Mominul Haque, Mahmudullah Riyad, Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarker. The other players are Mohammad Mithun, Sabbir Rahman.

The keeper-batsman will hold batting training at the Mirpur Indoors at 10:10am to 10:55am and running sessions at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) beside his gym session at the BCB-Gymnasium.
