Bangladesh chief selector Minhajul Abedin said that pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman needs to grab the opportunity in the upcoming three-match Test series against Sri Lanka.
Country's most talented pace bowler across formats only a few years ago, had a reality check in the recent past after being axed from the Test contract list.
The left-arm pace bowler last played a Test match in New Zealand in March 2019 and since then hasn't been able to make it into Bangladesh's playing XI.
According to Minhajul, Mustafizur need to show his worth in the practice and warm-up game to stake a claim in the Test XI despite the fact head coach Russell Domingo clearly stated that he needs to improve in order to feature in Test.

‘’Why not play him [Mustafizur] in Sri Lanka [ in the Test series],’’ said Minhajul.
‘'We will definitely pick him in the squad and if he can do well in the practice games he can surely make it into the Test XI. We just need to make sure he is fit and delivering,’’ he said.
Since joining the individual training session last week, Mustafizur Rahman is trying to make sure that he gets the most out of the limited opportunities.
His desperation was clearly evident in the practice session on Sunday when he tried to bring the ball into the batsmen in the nets and as he is aware that he need to add variation into his tally in order to survive in the competitive world.
Mustafizur was considered the next big thing in Bangladesh cricket since picking 13 wickets in 2015 had helped Bangladesh clinch their maiden ODI series win over India and he followed it up with pivotal roles in ODI series wins over South Africa and Zimbabwe and he also became the first Bangladeshi cricketer to feature in the ICC's ODI team of the year for 2015.
Mustafizur later bagged an IPL contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad worth and played a key role in the Sunrisers' maiden IPL trophy win and also finished with the tournament's Emerging Player award.
During the time frame he developed fine yorkers along with his off-cutter that was enough for him to dominate against the world renowned batting unit until the shoulder injury in 2016 cut his time at England's T20 Blast short and eventually kept him out of action for five months.
After returning back his form dipped to such an extent that the country's most talented pace bowler across formats only a few years ago, had a reality check in the recent past after being axed from the Test contract list.
