Bangladesh team will conduct a residential camp ahead of the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka after it finalized by the host, said BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury on Monday.

Bangladesh's tour to Sri Lanka which was scheduled to be held in July-August comprising three-match Test series was postponed earlier due to coronavirus pandemic which halted all cricketing activities around the world since mid-March.

Considering the fact that coronavirus’ impact in Sri Lanka is minimal compared to their Asian neighbours, this prompted BCB to reschedule the tour which was part of ICC Test Championship as the tourists are eyeing to resume cricket through this series as all cricketing activities were suspended since mid-March and only in the recent past through the commencement of the individual training session, cricket-related activities returned to the field.

According to BCB officials, Bangladesh’s series against Sri Lanka which got postponed - consisting of three Tests - can now feature three shorter format games along with the Tests.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials said that cricketers will have to undergo coronavirus test ahead of the upcoming tour to Sri Lanka.

Among the 24-member national football squad, 18 were found infected by the coronavirus and as a result, BCB is also looking into the matter with utmost importance.

BCB is waiting to finalise the date of the tour as that will help them chalk out a timeline for their practice camp as well.

“We are monitoring the corona condition of our cricketers through our Covid-19 wellbeing apps and through it our medical department is keeping an eye on the cricketers. when we will decide about the camp we will keep them in isolation and later we will think about a residential camp,’’ said BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury on Monday.
