On Tuesday, Bangladesh Cricket Board officials said that their real challenge lies after the full-fledged resumption of cricket after the global pandemic novel coronavirus outbreak. However, the first phase of individual training ended at different venues on Tuesday that began with 10 cricketers from July 19 and three more cricketers joined later as they were eyeing to work on their skill and fitness.

The individual training camp was a major step towards resumption of cricket in the country as the board that were reluctant to welcome cricketers in their venues following the Covid-19 pandemic eventually ended up taking a U-turn as per the request from the cricketers.

BCB has arranged facilities and grounds across the country under strict health guidelines set by the BCB medical team for the cricketers. With this set-up, it is natural that the expectation will be high for cricket to resume in the country as it remained suspended since late March this year.

However, BCB chief physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury said to Cricfrenzy that keeping the current Covid-19 situation in mind, the challenge is still very big.

‘’So far, we have not faced any trouble arranging the practice sessions as far as health measures are concerned. This was because we dealt a small number of players so the job was pretty easy. But the challenge will be greater when we will have a bigger number of people. Training and tournament are two different things to manage,” said Debashish.

“In training, we are having one by one session which is the easiest way. But when we involve teams, the scenario will be totally different. It will involve lodging, food, transport and other logistics. The exposure increases as the number of people involved increases and it becomes difficult to ensure the measurements,” he concluded.
